Milestones on Program Board

Create and track milestones on the Program Board to align with your quarterly planning goals and stay on track.

Milestones help communicate shared goals. If you're using Org Views, milestones can be defined within your "Collection" and added to the Program Board.

If you're not using Org Views, you can still create and view milestones directly on the Program Board and Program Board Timeline.

Adding Milestones

To add milestones to your Program Board, you have two options:

  • Create New Milestones

  • Attach Existing Milestones

Note: For Program Boards created before 13-Jan-2025, milestones are hidden by default. To enable milestones:

  1. Go to "Board Settings" β†’ "Details".

  2. Scroll to the "Hide Milestones" section.

  3. Unselect the checkbox to display milestones.

Once milestones are added to the board, they appear as the first swimlane. You can click the swimlane bar to collapse or expand it.

Note that drag-and-drop functionality is not available for moving milestones between sprints. Instead, update the milestone date, and it will automatically be placed in the corresponding sprint.

Milestones Progress Tracking

Milestones can be linked to features on the Program Board, and their progress can be tracked using one of the following criteria:

  1. By Done Children (Estimates): Progress is calculated based on the story points of completed stories.

  2. By Done Children (Status): Progress is determined by the number of stories marked as "Done."

  3. By Linked Items (Status): Progress is based on the status of items directly linked to the milestone. The statuses of child items are not included in the percentage completion.

Milestones are displayed on the Timeline.

You can also use the "Group by Milestones" option from the grouping dropdown to view features linked to each milestone along with their progress.

How to Remove Milestones from the Program Board

A milestone can be associated with multiple Program Boards and Collections. If a milestone was added by mistake or is no longer relevant, follow these steps to remove it:

  • Open the milestone by clicking on it.

  • Navigate to the "Associations" section.

  • Remove the relevant association.

  • Reload your Program Board browser window.

  • The milestone will no longer appear on the Program Board.
