For Jira boards at Kendis, it's possible to select the trigger to change the status of the dependencies automatically.
In this article, we will explain in detail, what are these options and how they work

How to enable?

To enable this, you need to go to Board Settings, select "Edit Board Settings" and the go to "Additional Fields" tab.
Scroll to the dependencies selection area

Auto update Dependency status of Parent item if

This has 2 options

1) When Target Parent Item updates to Done

"Target Parent" item means the feature card that receives the dependency. The arrow points towards this feature card.
If this option is selected, whenever the target feature status is marked as done, then the dependency status will change to "Resolved" and the line will go green. Important to note here is, if the feature has multiple dependencies, all of them will be resolved.

2) When Source Parent Item updates to Done
"Source Parent" item means the feature card that creates the dependency. The dependency line starts from this card and goes toward the other feature card.
If this option is selected, whenever the source feature status is marked as done then the dependency status will change to "Resolved" and the line will go green. Important to note here is, if the feature has multiple dependencies, all of them will be resolved.

Auto update Dependency status of Child Item if

This has 3 options

1) When Target Child Item updates to Done

"Target Child" item means story card that receives the dependency. The arrow points towards this story card. If this option is selected, then whenever the target story status is marked as done then the dependency status will change to "Resolved" and the line will go green.

2) When Source Child Item updates to Done
"Source Child" item means the story card that creates the dependency. The dependency line starts from this story card and goes toward the other story card.
If this option is selected, whenever the "source story" status is done then the dependency status will change to "Resolved" and the line will go green.

2) When Target Child Item or Source Child Item status updates to Done
If this option is selected, the dependency status will change to "Resolved" and the line will go green, whenever one of the story cards, either source or target status is done.

Note: The language and text of these labels are under consideration and may change soon to make it more easy to understand.
