Grouping work by team moves you away from static lists and aligns your board with your actual organisational structure. By using the Group by ADO Team option, you can instantly categorise work items based on their ownership, making it easier to manage capacity and track progress.

Core Functionality

The grouping logic automatically maps work items to specific teams based on the Area Paths defined in your project configuration. This ensures that the groups you see in the tool always mirror the way your teams are structured in ADO.

Supported Areas

This grouping capability is available across several key workspaces:

PI Board & Timeline

Organises work into horizontal rows for different delivery groups, making it easier to visualise the distribution of effort.

WSJF Viewer

Replaces a single list with categorised functional units, allowing for team-specific prioritisation and grooming.

Link Item Popup

Simplifies the search for dependencies by letting you browse through specific team-based backlogs.

How to Apply Team Grouping?

To change your current view, follow these steps:

Click the dropdown menu at the top of the screen (typically labeled "No Groups").

Under the By Azure DevOps Fields category, choose ADO Team.

Work items will be sorted into collapsible headers for each team. The number next to each team name represents the total count of items assigned to that group.

Managing Unmapped Items

If items appear under a "No Group" header, it indicates they are assigned to an Area Path that has not yet been linked to a specific team in your settings. This provides a clear view of any work that remains unassigned or sits outside of defined team boundaries.
