This guide provides a detailed technical architecture of Portfolios in Kendis. Portfolios serve as the primary governance layer. They consolidate real-time execution data from multiple Strategic Themes to provide executive-level visibility into enterprise delivery throughput and organisational health.
Global Navigation & Hub Management
The Themes and Portfolios hub provides a centralised environment to manage your high-level strategic initiatives.
Portfolio Repository: The Portfolios tab displays all active strategic workstreams, highlighting the count of associated Themes, the Average Progress (calculated as a roll-up of linked theme completion), and the number of active items.
Administrative Entry: You can create new portfolios via the + Create Portfolio button. Modify existing setups using the Edit (pencil) icon or enter the Oversight Dashboard through the View Details command.

Portfolio in Kendis consolidates real-time execution data from multiple associated workstreams.
Creating a New Portfolio
To create a new Portfolio, navigate to the Portfolios tab on the main hub and click the + Create Portfolio button.
Within the Basic Information section, enter the basic details of the portfolio:
Enter a mandatory Title and Summary to define the portfolio's administrative scope and business purpose.
Utilise the rich-text Description editor to document high-level ROI targets and success criteria for executive stakeholders.
Manage the current stage of the portfolio (e.g., Draft or Planning) via the Status dropdown.
Configuring Portfolio Logic & Alignment
The parameters configured here determine how the system calculates health and delivery pace:
Time Horizon: Choose between a Single or Multi-Period window (e.g., Q4 2025 to Q2 2026) using the Time Period toggle to align with your fiscal calendar.
Operational Dates: Input specific Start and End Dates. This information is essential, as it acts as the primary input for the system's automated Duration tracking and expected progress calculations.
Theme Integration: Under the Associations sub-menu, link the specific Strategic Themes that roll up into this portfolio. This creates the data pipeline that allows team-level delivery metrics to aggregate into the executive dashboard.
Ownership: Designate authorized Owners who are responsible for the portfolio's oversight and configuration.
Customising the Visual Appearance
Adjust the Appearance settings to ensure the portfolio is easily recognisable within the hub:
Select a unique Background color, Text Color, and Pattern.
Use the Preview card to verify the look before clicking Save to finalise the setup.
Portfolio Performance Dashboard
The Overview dashboard automates the aggregation of execution data across your organisation.
Metrics Roll-up: The header displays the total volume of Themes, Objectives, and Key Results (KRs) linked to the portfolio.
Completion Tracking: A donut chart visualises the percentage of Completed work versus Remaining work across all associated themes.
Health Status Monitoring: View the status of associated Themes and Objectives via bar charts categorised as "On Track", "At Risk", or "Delayed".
Completion Variance: Use the Theme Progress chart to compare completion percentages (e.g., 34.28%) between individual themes.
Output Trends: The Weekly Progress Trend graph plots KRs completed over time to identify dips in delivery pace.
Data Hierarchy & Advanced Analytics
For deep-dive analysis, the Portfolio suite provides specialised views of your data hierarchy.
Themes List: A granular table providing the Progress %, Status, and Responsible lead for every theme, collection (ART), and individual objective.
Tree View: A visual map tracing the alignment from the Portfolio node down to Collections and Objectives, featuring real-time health status overlays.
Progress Tracking: Analyse day-by-day trends across specific intervals (e.g., 6W, 6M, 1Y) to view Avg Velocity per day and the Est. Completion date.
Comparative Progress: Review the Average Progress of All Groups on a week-by-week basis to identify performance variance across ARTs.
Maintenance & Audit Trail
Audit Logging: The Updates button (top-right) opens a chronological log of all activities within the last 30 days, ensuring transparency for all administrative changes.
Contextual Filtering: Use the Time Period toggle to switch dashboard context between Single or Multi-quarter views for comparative fiscal reporting.
