Frequently asked questions
Our capabilities are in Jira and our features are in Azure DevOps. Can I relate them?
Our capabilities are in Jira and our features are in Azure DevOps. Can I relate them?
Yes. Open the Jira capability on the solution board, use Link existing and add the ADO feature. Kendis keeps the relation on the solution board (it is not written to Jira or ADO), shows the feature under the capability, counts it in progress and analytics, and keeps its status current from ADO.
I cannot find a PI board when linking it to the solution.

Its collection must be a contributing collection of the solution area. Edit the area and add the collection.
The Jira / ADO tab is missing in the Link existing picker.
The Jira / ADO tab is missing in the Link existing picker.
Tabs are created from the ALM accounts of the linked PI boards. If all linked boards are Kendis-only there is nothing to search. Link a synced board first.
Two Azure DevOps boards from the same organisation: why was the link Kendis-only?
Two Azure DevOps boards from the same organisation: why was the link Kendis-only?
Because they use different ALM accounts in Kendis. The same-account rule applies; the link exists in Kendis and works for progress and analytics.
A cross-tool child disappeared after resync.
A cross-tool child disappeared after resync.
Cross-tool links are kept by design. If one is missing, check that the child's own PI board is still linked and run Resync Board again. Report the capability key to support if it persists.
Child status is stale in the popup.
Child status is stale in the popup.
Reopen the popup; status refreshes at most every two minutes per capability. Resync Board refreshes everything.
Children are grouped under 'Other' on the board.
Children are grouped under 'Other' on the board.
This happened for cross-tool children in older versions. After this release they are grouped by their own status category; resync the board once.
Capability progress says 0 of N although the children are done.
Capability progress says 0 of N although the children are done.
Confirm the children are in a Done status category in their tool and that Measure against is set as intended on Capability Progress.
Which key is shown for a synced capability?
Which key is shown for a synced capability?
The ALM key (Jira key or ADO id). Kendis-only capabilities show their K-key.
Can I link a child that is not on any PI board?
Can I link a child that is not on any PI board?
Yes, through the Jira / ADO tabs. It is listed in the popup and counted in Capability Progress, but only appears in a swimlane once it is on a linked PI board.
Where are the tool logos?

Dependency lines are not drawn.
Dependency lines are not drawn.
Turn on the Dependency Lines switch in the Dependency panel and tick a box in every group (status, hierarchy level, board scope and indicators). The providing feature must be planned in a sprint, and feature lines are shown in By Feature View. Kendis dependencies draw lines too; no Jira or Azure DevOps link is needed. See Dependency lines.
Why is the Analytics burn-down empty?

Objective children count shows 0.

How do the parents of my Jira features come in as capabilities?
How do the parents of my Jira features come in as capabilities?
On the Jira PI board open Board Settings › Additional Settings, tick Enable Feature Parent and choose the link type that is the parent of a feature (for example Parent or Parent Link) in Select Link Type between Parent and Feature. Save, then link the PI board to the solution (or resync the solution board): every feature's parent comes in as a capability with the feature already under it. Kendis only reads the Jira parent while this option is on.
And for Azure DevOps PI boards?
And for Azure DevOps PI boards?
There is no link type to choose: Kendis always syncs each ADO feature's parent work item. Tick Enable Feature Parent once on the ADO PI board (Board Settings › Additional Settings) and from then on the parents come in automatically whenever the PI board is linked to the solution board or the solution board is resynced.
Where do I see which capabilities came in as feature parents?

Under Board Settings › Content From ALM each PI board gets a row named Referenced parents (<PI board>). It is created and updated automatically and disappears when the PI board is unlinked.
A risk register appeared on the solution board that nobody linked.
A risk register appeared on the solution board that nobody linked.
Every linked PI board brings its own risk register in automatically. Unlink it with the × on its chip and Kendis will not add it again. See Risks and risk registers.
Can a PI board have several risk registers?

The progress method at the top right of the Objectives page is a personal view setting. Choose Use value set at OKR level to see each objective's own criteria.
Do PI objectives roll up into solution objectives?
Do PI objectives roll up into solution objectives?
Not on their own. Link a PI objective to a solution objective with Link Objectives › Program Board Objectives and it counts as one of its contributors, next to key results, linked solution objectives and linked capabilities.
