Your solution board is only as good as the PI boards behind it. Here you'll see how to link your ARTs to the board, keep its iterations in line with theirs, and resync when things change.
Add or remove PI boards
Open Board Settings (top right of the board), click Edit Board Settings and switch to the Program Boards tab.
Pick the Collection that holds the board. Only contributing collections of the solution area are listed.
Choose the board in Select Program Boards To Add, set a short name and colour, then click + Add Board.
In Selected Program Boards drag rows to change the swimlane order, use the pencil to change name or colour, or the cross to unlink a board. Reordering and pencil edits are saved as you make them.
Press Save after adding or removing a board. The board reloads with the new swimlane and that board's features. When the PI board has Enable Feature Parent switched on, the parents of its features come in as capabilities with the features under them; features without a parent sit in the Features without Capability group. See Bring in capabilities.
A solution board can hold up to 30 PI boards, and at least one has to stay linked.

ⓘ Removing a PI board
Unlinking a board removes its swimlane from the solution board. Kendis also removes the capabilities that came in as parents of that board's features, unless a filter under Content From ALM still returns them, and the dependencies on this solution board that involve that PI board. Nothing changes on the PI board itself, in Jira or in Azure DevOps.
Iterations
The Iterations tab manages the solution iterations: the header row shown above the swimlanes and the bands on the timeline. The tab carries your board's own word for iteration, and it is only there while Show Solution Increment Bands on Timeline is switched on in the Board Settings panel.
Start date and End date are the dates of the solution board. With Auto-Update on, Kendis keeps them equal to the start of the first iteration and the end of the last one, and the two date boxes are locked. Auto-fill Now switches Auto-Update on and sets the dates straight away.
Edit a row to rename it, change its label (S1…S6) or its dates. When you change the dates of a row, the iterations after it move with it.
Drag rows to reorder them, delete a row, or add one with the Add New link below the list.
Every change on this tab is saved immediately; there is no Save button. Preview shows the PI boards' sprints against the solution iterations.

Resync the board
Board Settings › Resync Board asks for confirmation and then re-runs every filter and query saved under Content From ALM, so capabilities added to them in Jira / Azure DevOps come onto the board. It also brings in the parents of your PI boards' features again and refreshes the children of every capability. Links that were made across different tools (for example a Jira parent with an ADO child) are preserved.
The features themselves and the sprint they sit in are read from the PI boards each time the solution board loads. After a feature moved on its PI board, reload the solution board to see it in the new column. Resync Board needs the Add/Remove Content right.

How PI boards show on the board
Each linked PI board becomes a coloured swimlane. Inside a swimlane the columns are that PI board's own sprints, and features of that board are grouped under the capability they belong to. The solution iterations are shown as a header row above the swimlanes. Cards carry the capability key, status and small counters for open, in-progress and done children. A capability without any features on that board simply does not appear in that swimlane.

Frequently asked questions
A feature of a linked PI board is missing on the solution board.
A feature of a linked PI board is missing on the solution board.
Check on the PI board that the feature is planned in a sprint, then reload the solution board. Features with no sprint appear in the Unplanned bucket of the Capability Progress page.
Can I link PI boards from different Jira or ADO accounts?
Can I link PI boards from different Jira or ADO accounts?
Yes. Each PI board keeps its own ALM account. In the Link existing picker you choose the Jira or Azure DevOps instance you want to search.
Does the iteration list have to match every PI board exactly?
Does the iteration list have to match every PI board exactly?
No. Each swimlane keeps its PI board's own sprints as columns. The solution iterations are a separate header row above the swimlanes and the bands on the timeline, so they do not have to match any single PI board.
