This guide provides step-by-step instructions for creating a new Jira API token and updating it in Kendis for an existing Jira ALM integration. Updating your API token ensures uninterrupted synchronisation between Jira and Kendis.
You may need to follow this process if:
The Jira connection in Kendis is failing.
The existing API token has expired.
You are updating credentials to meet security compliance requirements.
Prerequisites
Before starting, ensure:
You have access to the Jira account used for integration.
You have Admin or appropriate permissions in Kendis to edit ALM Accounts.
You can access Atlassian Account Security settings.
Generate a New API Token in Jira
Open Atlassian Account
Log in to Jira.
Click your Profile icon (top right).
Select Account settings.
Navigate to the Security tab.
Scroll down to the API tokens section.
Click Create and manage API tokens.
Create a Standard API Token
Click Create API token.
⚠️ Important
Select Create API token.
Do not select “Create API token with scopes.”
Enter a meaningful Name (e.g., Kendis Integration).
Set the Expiry date to the maximum duration allowed.
Click Create.
Copy and Store the Token
Click Copy.
Save the token securely.
Note: The token is shown only once. You cannot retrieve it later. Copy it immediately.
Update the API Token in Kendis
Navigate to ALM Accounts
Open your Kendis board.
Go to Settings.
Click ALM Accounts.
Locate the Jira account that needs to be updated.
Click the Edit icon.
Replace the Existing API Token
In the account configuration screen, locate the API Token field.
Click Change next to the API Token.
Paste the newly generated Jira API token.
Test the Connection
Click Test Connection.
Confirm the connection is successful.
If successful, the Jira integration is validated with the new token.
Click Save to finalise the update.
Your Jira API token is now successfully updated in Kendis.
Troubleshooting
If the connection fails:
Verify the Jira Login ID (email) is correct.
Ensure the entire token was copied (no extra spaces).
Confirm the token has not expired.
Ensure “Create API Token” (not scoped token) was used.
Check that the Jira account has the required permissions.
This completes the Jira API Token update process in Kendis.
