Risk management should be structured, visible, and actionable. Risk creation becomes smarter with Charlie AI. You can:

  • Turn risk ideas into structured documentation.

  • Automatically assess probability and impact.

  • Connect risks to execution work.

  • Monitor risk health in real time.

This guide explains how to use Charlie AI for risk creation and ongoing analysis within your PI Board.

Create and Manage Risks with Charlie AI

Charlie supports two core capabilities inside the Risk Register:

  • Intelligent Risk Creation: Generate a well-structured risk from a simple description.

  • Continuous Risk Analysis: Evaluate whether a risk is actively managed and aligned with delivery work.

Together, these capabilities help teams move from risk logging to proactive risk mitigation.

Let’s understand the detailed steps to create and manage risks.

Step 1: Open Charlie AI from the Risk Register

  • Open your PI Board.

  • Click More in the top navigation.

  • Select Risk Register.

  • Click Add Risk.

  • Choose Generate with Charlie AI.

You are now in the AI-assisted risk creation workflow.

Step 2: Describe Your Risk Scenario

Charlie begins with a contextual prompt. You have to provide details about the risk you want to document.

To generate high-quality output, it is recommended to include the following details:

What change or event is occurring?

What could go wrong?

Who is affected?

What is the business or delivery impact?

Any measurable thresholds (if applicable)

Example

This is the scenario we are sharing with Charlie to create our risk.

Click Generate with Charlie.

Step 3: Review the AI-Generated Risk Structure

Charlie generates a structured risk, including an executive-ready Risk Title, a Risk Description outlining the triggering scenario, affected stakeholders, and business impact. Another important aspect is practical Mitigation Actions.

Apart from textual information, Charlie automatically sets a Probability Assessment and Impact Assessment based on your context and severity signals in your input.

Review the generated content carefully before proceeding.

Step 4: Refine the Risk (If Needed)

If adjustments are needed, use Refine with Additional Context.

Example:

Add an automated rollback strategy if authentication failure exceeds 1% for five minutes.

Click Regenerate.

Charlie updates the description and mitigation plan while maintaining the overall structure.

Once satisfied, click Use This Content.

Step 5: Configure Risk Details

The full risk form opens with the AI-generated content applied. Now, configure the critical management details:

  • Enter Target Resolution Date.

  • Assign Responsible.

  • Select Status (e.g., Open, Owned, and Accepted).

  • Tag Context.

  • Link Program Boards.

  • Notify Watchers.

  • Click Save to create the risk.

Step 6: Linking Risks to Features/Stories

A risk becomes actionable when tied to its relevant work items.

  • Click Linked Items button for your newly created risk.

  • Select the relevant Program Board.

  • Search or browse features and stories.

  • Select items.

  • Click Save.

This improves traceability and delivery alignment.

Step 7: Analyse Risk Health with Charlie

Charlie also evaluates whether the risk is actively managed.

Charlie reviews risk severity, target resolution timeline, mitigation execution signals, and team activity patterns to generate a detailed report.

Open the risk and click Analyse with Charlie.

What does the Analysis Include?

Overall State: A summary of the risk’s current health.

Progress Signals: This section includes the timeline, mitigation details, linked work items, and team activities.

What To Do Next: It shows clear and actionable recommendations. For example: assign mitigation owners, schedule a review meeting, and escalate if deadlines are near.

Share the AI Analysis

You can:

  • Click Copy to share externally.

  • Click Add as Comment to attach to the risk.

  • Tag stakeholders.

This keeps discussions centralised in Kendis.
